Anxiety is a barrier to the optimum mindset and life God intends for us.
We inherited “bugs” in our thinking we inherited from Adam due to information humans weren’t intended to have. As a result, we need the help of Holy Spirit to properly govern our mind.
Philippians Chapter 4:4-8 (King James Version) says:
4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Merriam-Webster.com states “Rejoice” means to “feel or show great joy or delight.”
The New Living Translation Bible translates “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God” to “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.”
According to this recipe, if believers can have peace of God in their hearts and mind:
- Feel and show great joy or delight in God,
- Act moderately (NLT: “ Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do….),
- Don’t worry about anything, and
- Pray about everything.
Through this formula, anxiety can be cured, even in the most fearful and high strung people.
Finally, verse 8 tells us the kinds of things to focus on: whatever is honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report; that have virtue, “and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Where we focus dictates the direction we move and where we will ultimately wind up in the future.
Believers who put these words into practice, will be liberated, function higher and be positioned to move fwd. into their purpose and life God has for them. This is the only “best” life!
